Who Am I?

Hi, I'm Justin, and welcome to my little corner of the internet: Beans over Beef! Here I want to talk about all the things I'm passionate about – learning, teaching, writing, and cooking! Join me on my quest to provide information about well-being, and how to make your food give you more.

I first started cooking a little over 10 years ago and have since found that I really enjoy learning about the science and theory behind cooking, and how some small changes in cooking can bring a dish from “good” to “wow!” This has also sparked a love of recipe creation – what can I put together to make something great!

Disclaimer: I am not a medical professional, I am just someone with a passion for learning and cooking. This blog contains only opinion and not professional advice. My content is intended to be a way to start your healthy-food journey, and provide some recommendations on where you can search. I will link my research throughout my blog posts though, so if you want to look into anything yourself, you're free to do so!

What Can You Expect?

What I really love to do is learn, and share. In this blog, you might find recipes and recommendations, but as we know, every person is unique, so what might work for me, may not work for you. Or, you may need more/less of something in your diet, based on who you are, what your restrictions are, etc. I want us all to discover just how much power and influence we have over our health outcomes and how simple changes can have big effects. If my blog can even help just one person make healthier choices for their life then that is a win in my book.

What I'm looking to give you is a guide. A guide for knowledge, a guide for recipes, and a guide for wellness. Basically, I'm looking to provide the “how” to do things, instead of a step-by-step. That's not to say I'll never post a recipe, but my recipes will always have the caveat to modify it however you need to to fit your needs.
